Signing Josh Brownhill will be smart move by West Ham
West Ham United are interested in making a move for Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill in the summer transfer window, according to 90min.
The Hammers have been in the market to sign midfielders, especially after the retirement of Mark Noble whereas Alex Kral is set to return to Spartak Moscow for another loan spell.
The reports state that David Moyes wants to create a good depth in midfield and the club’s recruitment staff believe that the addition of quality Premier League-level midfielders might elevate the club to the next stage.

The 26-year-old, who joined Burnley in January 2020 from Bristol City in a deal worth £9million, has a deal with the Clarets till the summer of 2024.
Role in the Team
Brownhill can prove to be a very expansive addition to Moyes’ squad. He is a quality midfielder that is heavily known for his tackling and interceptions.
He was important in a counter-attacking model which is one of the reasons why West Ham is monitoring him.
The former Bristol City man secured 39 interceptions across 33 games in the 2020-21 Premier League. In the recently concluded season, he sits fourth on the list with 68 interceptions in total. [Premier League].

In the 2021-22 season, the Burnley midfielder scored two goals and provided three assists in 35 appearances. He played 86% of the overall minutes for the club in the recently concluded season [Transfermarkt].
With Declan Rice’s future under a cloud, it makes sense that West Ham are looking for options and Brownhill can prove to be a decent addition to the squad.
If the England international chooses to stay, both players can form a strong pivot in the middle, which will allow the attacking players to thrive.
This is one of those deals that wouldn’t grab all of the headlines but could go under the radar as one of the smartest pieces of business done.
