ExWHUemployee: West Ham confident of beating Manchester City to sign attacking midfielder Patrick Kelly

West Ham are reportedly confident of beating Manchester City and winning the race to sign attacking midfielder Patrick Kelly.

According to ExWHUemployee, the Hammers hope to wrap up the deal soon to sign the 17-year-old attacking midfielder who plays for Coleraine FC.

Apart from the Citizens, even Sunderland are keeping tabs on the Northern Irish player.

Ex wrote, “The target is Patrick Kelly who plays for Coleraine Fc and has already impressed for the first team. So far he has played 17 times and has scored one goal. His best position is seen as an attacking midfielder playing in the hole behind the forwards.

“The player is very highly rated and has had Sunderland, Manchester City and a host of other clubs looking at him. The deal is not complete yet but the club hope to wrap it up soon.

“Last summer we exclusively broke the signing of Calum Marshall to the club, another player from Northern Ireland, he has since performed very well for our academy and we hope that if he signs Kelly will have the same promising start.”

Good move

The 17-year-old made his senior debut this season against Carrick Rangers in September 2021.

Since then, he has featured on numerous occasions for the first team and also bagged a solitary goal for his efforts.

He’s impressed a great deal for the Under-20s side and is one of the club’s brightest prospects.

If there is a team like Manchester City linked with him, then he’s surely got to be doing something right.

It’s got to see that the Hammers are also right in the queue, and from the looks of it, leading it ahead of the Premier League champions.

Rob Newman and others in the recruitment department appear to have cast a pretty wide net and they’re spotting talent that few clubs are paying heed of.

It’s good to see the Hammers being so proactive in the window and hopefully, they manage to seal some first-team deals sooner rather than later.
