Mohammed Kudus West Ham future now surely sealed after latest transfer news
West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui will no doubt have one eye on the January transfer window now that it’s just around the corner.
So far, the 2024/25 season has been quite a strange one for all those involved with the Hammers as they currently sit 14th in the Premier League.
There have already been countless times this season when the future of Lopetegui has been brought into question but at the moment, it feels like his job is safe.
While the Spaniard may be keeping an eye on the market for players to add to his ranks, it’s likely that other teams will be looking to make a swoop for some of the Hammers’ talent.
And, with the latest reports linking Charles De Ketelaere with a London Stadium switch, it feels like the future of Mohammed Kudus has been sealed [Caught Offside, 19 December].
The Ghanaian has been consistently linked with a move away from West Ham and now that the Belgian is being linked with a move, it feels like Kudus’ time under Lopetegui could be up [Sebastien Vidal, 18 December].
Why West Ham United should allow Mohammed Kudus to leave
Since Lopetegui took over from David Moyes at the start of the 2024/25 season, it’s felt like the two haven’t really seen eye to eye despite the importance of the former Ajax man to the Hammers’ team.
The two have already had a bust-up this term when the Spaniard chose to take the 24-year-old off at half-time against Brentford in their Premier League clash on 28 September [The Athletic, 2 October].
And while fans may think losing Kudus would mark the end of their chances to earn European football, De Ketelaere could more than fill the void he’d leave if he were to exit.
The former AC Milan ace has been in impressive form over the last couple of seasons and has contributed to 17 of Atlanta’s goals already this season.

The fact he can be deployed as a centre-forward as well as on the wing or even in attacking midfield also makes his transfer seem like a strong move.
Only time will tell what the future has in store but if the Hammers want to stick by Lopetegui, getting rid of Kudus could go a long way to helping him prosper at the London Stadium.
