Zouma benched - Confirmed West Ham XI vs Southampton
West Ham summer signing Kurt Zouma has not been handed his debut by David Moyes today against Southampton.
The likes of Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral will also have to wait for making their first bow for the Hammers.
Along with Alphonse Areola, the three new Hammers are on the bench, with Moyes not looking to change too much in the early days of the season.
Craig Dawson, who hasn’t enjoyed the best of starts to the new seasons, starts ahead of Zouma, perhaps surprisingly.
Angelo Ogbonna, who has done well recently, will partner the Englishman and is likely to be Moyes’ second choice this season.
In goal Lukasz Fabianksi remains ever-present but has Areola breathing down his neck.
At right-back Vladimir Coufal is the undisputed first choice and Aaron Cresswell is Moyes’ preferred option on the side.
Arthur Masuaku does not return to the bench and remains a long-term injury absence.
In midfield, Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek continue to start. Kral could be brought on in the second half based on the situation of the game.
Moyes has named an unchanged front four with Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Fornals, Said Benrahma and the in-form Michail Antonio.
Having picked up seven points from nine, the Hammers could go first with a win should Tottenham Hotspur fail to win their ongoing game against Crystal Palace.
It’s been an impeccable start to the new season and it remains to be seen how well the new signings fit in for the Hammers.
