WWE superstar reacts to confirmed West Ham United transfer news

WWE superstar Sheamus was among those to react as West Ham United confirmed the signing of Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton.

Ferguson’s arrival was announced by the Hammers on Monday (3 February), ahead of the 2-1 loss to Chelsea later in the day.

The Republic of Ireland international posted a message on his personal Instagram account [3 February] that read: “Time for a new chapter”.

Fellow Irishman Sheamus, who took part in WWE’s flagship Royal Rumble event on Saturday (1 February), responded with a clapping hands emoji.

Evan Ferguson can help Graham Potter turn around West Ham fortunes

Three defeats, one draw and one win is not the best of returns for Potter since succeeding Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium.

However, with Jarrod Bowen back fit and among the goals, and Ferguson eligible to make his debut against Brentford a week on Saturday (15 February), there are reasons to be positive.

West Ham are still not truly clear of relegation trouble, but the sheer lack of quality of the bottom three teams means that is not realistically going to be an issue.

This two-week break has come at a good time for Potter, allowing him to really drill into his players what he expects.

Ferguson, assuming he stays fit, can lead the line for the Hammers between now and the end of the campaign.

The Irishman may well have set himself a goals tally, and he will know he is in the side to do just that: score goals.

West Ham have plenty of talented attackers, but what they need now more than anything is someone to chip in regularly with goals to help out Bowen. Ferguson can be exactly that man.
