Evan Ferguson pictured in West Ham kit with transfer announcement imminent
West Ham United are on the brink of announcing Evan Ferguson's loan move from Brighton after he was pictured in their colours.
WestHam_Stuff posted on X (3 February) with a tongue-in-cheek comment about the Irons' interest in the Republic of Ireland striker, accompanied by a behind-the-scenes photo of him in their away kit.
The Hammers' interest has blossomed into a straight loan move for the 20-year-old, which was agreed with Brighton on Sunday and is set to be formally announced in East London within the coming hours [Sean Whetstone, 2 February].
West Ham loan move now set in stone for Evan Ferguson
After over a month of chasing, the Irons seem to have gotten their man, and although Ferguson's signing comes too soon for him to feature against Chelsea on Monday, fans will relish seeing him in their colours.
The 20-year-old looks set to be the only centre-forward addition made at the London Stadium before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm on Deadline Day, but he can be the answer to their issues upfront.
Graham Potter and his side may look set to miss out on the signatures of both Celtic's Daniel Cummings and Lorient starlet Eli Junior Kroupi, both of whom are 18, but Ferguson is the player he really wanted.
Ferguson is not only an older and more proven player than both Cummings and Kroupi but having made his Premier League breakthrough under Potter at Brighton, their reunion could prove to be a fruitful one.
The Irons have long been in the hunt for a young and hungry striker to aid an ageing frontline, and though Ferguson's loan includes no options to buy, he can still prove himself a star in claret and blue.
