West Ham will not sign free agent Jermain Defoe in January
West Ham will not be turning to former Premier League striker Jermain Defoe in January, according to ExWHUemployee.
The Hammers are keen on signing a number nine this month and there have been plenty of free agents linked with the club.
Defoe, who recently left Rangers, is available on a free but he is unlikely to be heading to the London Stadium.

Speaking on the West Ham Way Podcast, Ex said, “Jermaine Defoe is 39 and he’s just come back as a coach. It’s unlikely we make a move for him.”
Weird one again
The Andy Carroll ones were bizarre in themselves but Defoe certainly has come from the left field.
There have been no links or former ties to the club so this is just one of the generic free agent names that get thrown around in every transfer window.
Defoe certainly had an illustrious playing career, but his best days are long gone and he’s best suited as a coach now.
Even at Rangers, he was a player-coach and of late was mainly focusing on the latter half of that role.

What West Ham need is a young and upcoming striker who’s a few years away from his prime and has world class potential.
They can only rely on Michail Antonio up to a certain limit before the other players need to step up and take responsibility.
In other West Ham news, the club want to sign a ‘World class’ central midfielder in January and the player is set to leave on one condition
