West Ham United have been alerted to the availability of Manchester City defender John Stones this summer, according to the Sun.
It has been suggested that David Moyes is interested in a reunion with the England international from his days at Everton.
City are reportedly closing in on a £41million deal for Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake, and that could open the door for Stones to leave the Etihad Stadium.
West Ham are leading the race for the 26-year-old, with Arsenal also taking an interest in Stones who hasn’t had the best few years in Manchester recently.
With City preparing a summer clearout, it has been described that Stones is almost “certain” to leave, and a bid of up to £20million could be on the cards.
Pep Guardiola could reportedly bring in two new central defenders, and if that happens, the former-Everton man could wave goodbye to the blue shirt.
It is still uncertain whether or not West Ham actually need another central defender at the London Stadium, so someone may need to leave the club.
The Guardian reported earlier this week that Moyes is preparing a summer clearout in east London, and Fabian Balbuena could be one of those.
Should the Paraguayan international leave the club after not featuring much this season, it would be one of Angelo Ogbonna or Issa Diop to drop to the bench to make room for Stones, unless Moyes has a tactical switch up his sleeve.
