West Ham United target Jesse Lingard jets out as David Moyes delivers update
West Ham boss David Moyes admits that a decision on signing Jesse Lingard permanently has not yet been made by the club.
The 30-year-old has been training at Rush Green and Six Foot Two’s editor shared an image of Lingard jetting out to the United Arab Emirates.
It’s also been reported that Everton are keeping tabs on the former Manchester United and Nottingham Forest attacker.
Six Foot Two’s editor took to Twitter to share that “A fresh report has linked Lingard to move to Everton as a free agent but in a separate twist today he published a photo of himself on an Emirates plane headed to Dubai.”
Moyes said, “I think Jesse is starting to get himself back, he’s had the best part of a month now like pre-season work and is involved in a lot of the football. So he’s doing well but we’ve got no real update to give you from what I’ve said before.
“But we’re happy to try and get Jesse in the right condition.”
Not ready
Lingard does not seem to be at the level Moyes wants and it’s a good thing that the Hammers are not rushing into this.
Even though he’s available on a free transfer, he will ask for a signing on fee and West Ham do not really owe him anything.
When they wanted him desperately, he didn’t force a move away from Manchester United and eventually left as a free agent.
The squad seems good in the wide areas and if Lingard is not an upgrade or realistically challenging for the playing eleven, he should not be signed.
Signing a striker should be the priority in January so if these wages can be used to tempt to bring in a quality option to the London Stadium, that would make more sense.
In other West Ham news, a Hammers star has the same conversation with a manager as James Maddison did before he joined Tottenham Hotspur.
