West Ham United could accept offer for Declan Rice next summer

West Ham United skipper Declan Rice is certain to stay at the club throughout the campaign, but the Hammers could accept offers for him next summer, as per Claret and Hugh.

The reliable Hammers source reported on 21 September that “a key source” has explained to them that a decision on Rice’s future will be made in the summer.

Rice rejected several contract offers already, including a lucrative £200k a week, but he has never asked to leave the club.

Future on the line

The 23-year-old has developed into arguably one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League.

He is the epitome of consistency for the Hammers and has shown his class for the England national team as well.

Rice was outstanding last season for the club, and popular football pundit Karen Carney described him as “phenomenal” (26 October) after his brilliant performance against Tottenham.

Naturally, top clubs are vying for his signature. West Ham could cash in on him in the summer if the right offer comes their way.

Rice can also decide to stay put provided the club match his ambition.

The Hammers have progressed a long way under David Moyes, and they need to get into the top four this season.

They have shown ambition in the market by signing several quality players. They have added depth in their forward, defensive and midfield departments.

All they need now is to translate that into results, something that hasn’t happened so far.

The Hammers have made a poor start to the season after their opening seven games. If this form continues, they can forget about keeping Rice in the summer.
