Karen Carney raves about West Ham midfielder Declan Rice
West Ham won 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in the Premier League clash at the London Stadium.
Sky Sports pundit Karen Carney has waxed lyrical about Declan Rice, saying he was “amazing” against Spurs.
Carney has suggested that Rice has taken his game to a whole new level while speaking to Football Daily podcast.
Micah Richards asked her to comment on Rice specifically before adding he found the England midfielder as “nothing short of superb.”
Carney spoke in detail about what Rice brings to the side, and how he has evolved as a midfielder. His intricate passing has gone on to the next level and that he is now the key man for the Hammers.
“Amazing. He is unbelievable,” said Carney to Football Daily.
“He was just phenomenal. He has got everything. He senses the danger. His ability now to dribble with the ball at pace and ball carry has gone on to another level.
“He has got this presence. If you take him out, they would capitulate. He is that person. The focal point in the middle. He is so good.”
The 22-year-old midfielder has been outstanding this season for the Hammers.
David Moyes said earlier this week that potential suitors missed the trick to sign him for a bargain fee of £100 million in the summer. Now, there’s no way they can get him for that figure.
Rice has rejected two contract offers from West Ham already. He harbours the desire to play for a big club but transfer talks haven’t hampered his focus on his club.
In fact, he has taken his game to a whole new level this season. Anton Ferdinand has claimed that Rice should stay put at West Ham should they finish in the top four this season.
West Ham are pretty relaxed about his situation. He has a long-term contract at the club, and Moyes has made it very clear that it will take a gigantic offer to lure him away from the club.
In other West Ham news, Jack Wilshere has predicted major Hammers exit, but reckons one goal would stop it.
