West Ham United agree transfer fee with Sunderland for sale of Pierre Ekwah

West Ham have reportedly agreed on a transfer fee with Sunderland as midfielder Pierre Ekwah is set to leave the club permanently.

According to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett, he has verbally agreed on a four-and-a-half-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

The details of the transfer fee are yet to be revealed but it is understood that an agreement has been reached with him failing to make his senior debut for the Hammers since joining from Chelsea.

Via Twitter, Dorsett wrote, “Whufc have agreed a fee with #Sunderland for the sale of midfielder Pierre Ekwah.

“He has verbally agreed a 4.5 year contract on Weirside, subject to a medical, which is currently ongoing.
Fee undisclosed at this stage.”

Move on

Ekwah was a talented young prospect but had he been on the fringes of the first team, David Moyes would not have sanctioned his sale.

It’s clear that he saw him some way from the senior setup and hopefully, it’s a move that benefits all parties at the end of the day.

West Ham can now use the money they generated from his sale to either sign more hot prospects or use that in their quest to make more first-team additions.

West Ham

Regardless, they have to make their decision quickly as there’s not long left in the transfer window and time is clearly running out.

A new midfielder is perhaps the need of the hour at the London Stadium with Tomas Soucek nowhere good enough to be a regular.

The Hammers were prepared to sell Soucek in the summer itself, and they must wait no longer and cash in as soo as possible.
