Exclusive: West Ham table bids for couple of midfielders amid Tomas Soucek uncertainty

West Ham are looking to sign a first-team central midfielder this summer and have already submitted bids for a couple of them.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, reliable Hammers insider ExWHUemployee discussed the potential incomings as Tomas Soucek’s future appears to hang in the balance.

It’s understood that the Czech midfielder’s representatives met with David Moyes and Karren Brady recently and an exit now looks inevitable.

Highlighting the Irons’ transfer plans, Ex said, “They want a central midfielder, that’s for sure, and have already bid for a couple of them. I hope Conor Coventry gets a chance to show his worth too.”

Making moves

Regardless of Soucek’s future, it is paramount that the Hammers sign a midfielder or two this summer, given the overhaul that’s taken place.

Mark Noble retired at the end of last season while Alex Kral returned to Russia after failing to impress in his loan spell at the London Stadium.

Declan Rice also remains constantly linked with the exit door, although it’s unlikely that he leaves this summer.

Coventry has done exceptionally well in pre-seasons and also had an impressive loan spell last season at MK Dons where he was one of their best players.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Soucek as the club are seeming to be way too harsh on him after one bad season.

In our view, he should be given another year to prove his worth while at the same time, the Hammers must look to sign a long-term solution in case either Soucek or Rice leave in the next 12-18 months.
