Toby Cudworth provides further update on West Ham-Jesse Lingard saga
Toby Cudworth has revealed on his Twitter account that West Ham transfer target Jesse Lingard is still confident of playing for Manchester United this season despite rejecting a new contract.
The 28-year-old is said to be concerned over playing time and has turned down a new deal from the Red Devils [The Times].
However, according to the 90min reporter, it seems as if the England international is waiting to see how often Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plays him before deciding if he will sign a new deal or not.
What will happen to Lingard?
It seems very odd that Lingard decided not to move permanently to West Ham, where he would have been guaranteed game time and played in the Europa League.
He would also have had the chance to play with the manager who he thrived under.
However, he thought that he would get regular game time when the Red Devils have the likes of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo in their squad.
Now, he has rejected a new deal because he isn’t guaranteed game time over these players.
It is such a strange decision, and you would have thought that Lingard would have realised that his game time at Old Trafford was probably going to be limited, but it seems as if he didn’t.
The Hammers signed Nikola Vlasic, so you could argue they won’t need the 28-year-old who might have to get used to sitting on the bench.
In other West Ham news, there is going to be a major transfer battle for one Irons star.
