West Ham to announce new Lukasz Fabianski contract within days

West Ham will announce a new contract for goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski within the next few days, according to ExWHUemployee.

Writing on the West Ham Way Patreon page, the reliable Hammers insider reported that Fabianski, 36, has finalised a new one-year contract extension at the London Stadium.

Fabianski’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of this season.

Great news

Fabianski has been a superb servant at West Ham.

Since signing in 2018, the former Swansea and Arsenal goalkeeper has made 124 appearances in all competitions for the Irons.

In that time he’s kept 31 clean sheets and overseen a huge transformation in the club’s fortunes.

Manuel Pellegrini’s time in charge was almost a disaster but since David Moyes came back to the London Stadium, there’s been no looking back and Fabianski has been a major part of the rise up the table.

Of course, there are stronger goalkeepers out there than Fabianski and we would be foolish to not realise the Polish shot-stopper is approaching the end of his career.

By the time his new contract expires, he’ll be 38 and no doubt close to hanging up his gloves for good.

It remains to be seen how this news will affect Alphonse Areola as we expected him to join permanently from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Areola, 28, has failed to take the number one spot off Fabianski in his loan spell in East London but there could still be a changing of the guard in the summer if David Moyes feels the Frenchman is ready.
