Simon Jordan blasts Jim White source after update on West Ham star Declan Rice

Simon Jordan has hit out at Jim White after the talkSPORT host shared West Ham United’s transfer stance on Declan Rice this month.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning, White reported that 22-year-old Rice is going nowhere in the January transfer window and it would take an offer of over £200million to buy him.

However, ex-Crystal Palace owner Jordan wasn’t having any of it, saying that there was no one even keen on signing Rice this month.

Jordan also hit out at White’s source, suggesting that it may have been David Gold or David Sullivan.

As shown in a clip on talkSPORT’s YouTube account, he said: “There was a West Ham before Declan Rice and there’ll be a West Ham after him.

“It was West Ham that produced Declan Rice to some extent to the player he is now and they’ll do it again because other players come along.

“It’s not ideal but if they do get ridiculous money then they will be able to deploy that money into other areas and supplement the squad.

“But the bottom line is, it’s no news from your contact – whether it’s Sullivan or Gold – they ain’t going to sell him in this window because no one ever thought they were.”

White then hit back, saying: “I’m not telling you who told me.”

Fair point

Jordan makes a good point because it’s a non-update. We haven’t seen any serious speculation linking Rice with a move away from West Ham this month.

We’ve seen all the stories in recent months when David Moyes has said that Rice is a player who’s valued at £100million and above. That’s obvious as he’s one of the best in the world at what he does, he’s proven in the Premier League, he’s an England international and he’s only 22.

But £200million? That’s extortionate and no one will pay that.

Of course, that is the point. No one at the London Stadium wants anyone to come in and make an offer for Rice.

But this story has just made a story about Rice for no reason because we haven’t seen anything to seriously suggest that he’ll be on his way this month.

Who in the Premier League could realistically sign Rice this month? When you look at every club’s squads and their financial positions, there’s not really anyone.

In the summer, it could be a whole new story but for this window, this was a non-update.

In other West Ham news, Dean Ashton blasted this player in the win over Leeds and suggested he was cheating.
