West Ham right-back Ryan Fredericks set for London Stadium departure, return to Fulham likely

Ryan Fredericks is set to leave the West Ham with a return to newly-promoted Fulham the likely destination as reported by the Evening Standard on Friday [20 May].

Fredericks, 29, is out of contract at the end of the season and has fallen behind Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson in the pecking order.

The right-back moved to the London Stadium from Craven cottage in 2018 on a free transfer and has over 100 appearances for the Hammers.

David Moyes is keen to overhaul his squad in order to compete regularly for the Premier League top six.

Overhaul needed

This departure is a good sign for the West Ham faithful.

Moyes has worked miracles with this side this season and needs financial backing to take the club to the next level.

The Hammers have lacked depth all over the pitch this season and have a good case to suggest it’s the reason they failed to make it to the Europa League final.

Michail Antonio has been severely overplayed and needs adequate competition for the start of next season.

Craig Dawson and Kurt Zouma have been mainstays in the centre of defence due to the injuries that Hammers have suffered defensively.

Moyes will be keen to add one or two central defenders to his ranks and upgrade the quality of his side.

The West Ham hierarchy have a habit of placing interest in a large variety of players with very limited success.

Let’s hope some of the names the Irons have been linked to already do come to fruition.

It would be a crime not to back Moyes after the job he has done.
