West Ham ready to sack Lopetegui for manager Guardiola said is ‘incredible’

West Ham could look to replace Julen Lopetegui with Andoni Iraola if they suffer a heavy defeat against Newcastle, according to TEAMtalk.

The online outlet reported on 22 November that the Hammers could sack the Spaniard if they lose against the Magpies at St James’ Park on Monday (25 November).

One name that the Irons have looked at is the Bournemouth boss whose work on the South Coast has been described as “incredible” by Pep Guardiola [BBC Sport].

The East London outfit are seen as a “very attractive option for managers” and the hierarchy could utilise this to tempt the Cherries manager to the London Stadium.

West Ham could replace Julen Lopetegui with Andoni Iraola

There is very little positivity surrounding the Hammers right now with the ex-Real Madrid manager barely clinging onto his job.

There was so much anticipation ahead of the season from supporters after what was viewed as a superb summer transfer window.

Even with the likes of Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug coming in, the Irons currently sit 14th in the Premier League after just three wins and five defeats this season.

It appears that another defeat could prove to be the final straw for Lopetegui which could hand the opportunity for Iraola to make the move to East London.

The ex-Athletic Club defender was certainly a controversial appointment at the Vitality Stadium after replacing the well-liked Gary O’Neil.

It is safe to say that the Cherries’ fanbase have forgotten about this uproar given that the Spaniard now has his side sitting 12th, just four points off the Champions League spots.

There is no doubt that this would be an exciting appointment at the London Stadium, it would all depend on whether the Bournemouth head coach would want to make the swap.

In other West Ham news, Troy Deeney has shared what a coach has told him about the squad’s thoughts on Julen Lopetegui.
