West Ham-linked Ivan Toney will not be available in January

West Ham will not be able to sign Ivan Toney in the January window as Brentford will not be willing to let go of him, according to Tom Clark.

The Hammers have been linked with a striker since Sebastien Haller’s departure and have not felt the absence of one due to Michail Antonio’s terrific form.

That said, Toney was a realistic target according to The Sun, but he did not end up moving, staying put at the newly-promoted Brentford instead.

Via his personal Twitter account, Clark, a Football London journalist, said, “Ivan Toney would fit the bill nicely but no chance Brentford sell in January.”

Shame

Since his move back up to the Premier League, Toney has proven why he’s the ideal striker for the Hammers.

There’s more to his game than just goals and that’s precisely what David Moyes needs at the moment.

Toney’s a striker who can drop deep, dominate defenders with his physical presence and bring other players into the game.

West Ham

He’s an ideal player for the manager and his goal-scoring record proves that he can be prolific in front of goal.

Over the last two seasons, Toney has scored 55 goals in 87 league appearances and has bagged 16 assists as well.

That’s almost a goal involvement every game, and with the quality of players the Hammers have, it will not be hard to match those numbers.

However, he is unlikely to leave in January, so the summer window is the likeliest option for West Ham to sign him.
