West Ham likely to sign former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez – Uruguayan journalist

West Ham are reportedly closing in on a move for former Barcelona and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez who is available on a free transfer after his Atletico Madrid stint.

According to Uruguayan journalist Nacho Saldombide who’s currently working for the Crack Cafe media outlet and as a TV host, the 35-year-old striker is very likely to move to the London Stadium this summer.

David Moyes has been eyeing a striker to be an upgrade on Michail Antonio and the Hammers look to be closing in on Suarez, according to his compatriot working in the media who has a regular slot on the Punto Penal TV show.

Via Twitter, he wrote, “It is almost certain that Luis Suarez will be a West Ham United Football Club player.”

Certainly not?

This one has come from out of the blue and with no credible sources relaying the same thing to us, we find this one slightly hard to get behind.

Suarez is undoubtedly an exceptional striker and many clubs would be wanting to take the punt on him given he’s a free agent.

While the Hammers would not mind a striker of his calibre, his wage demands are going to be extremely high and whether or not Moyes would want a player with his best days behind him, remains to be seen.

For the dressing room, having the Uruguayan would do wonders and it would lift the morale, given the fact that he’s a multiple times league winner and has a Champions League medal to his name as well.

Lionel Messi, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time, was Suarez’s teammate on numerous occasions and has waxed lyrical over him on numerous occasions. [Goal]

While this would boost jersey sales and increase the demand for season tickets, we do not see such a box-office signing taking place at West Ham this summer.

Armando Broja looks the likely striker signing this summer and Chelsea’s interest in Declan Rice should hopefully not complicate this deal further.
