West Ham keep eager eye on Ben Brereton - report

West Ham are keeping an “eager eye” on the situation of Ben Brereton Diaz, according to reports from Evening Standard.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray said (1 January) that the club are not looking to sell their prized asset in January.

However, the report claims that the Hammers haven’t given up on their hopes to sign the Chilean international, and they are paying close attention to his situation.

Massive signing

The 22-year-old is enjoying a rich vein of form, scoring 20 goals so far.

Signing a striker is a priority for the Hammers, with Michail Antonio needing help upfront.

The Jamaican international remains the club’s top scorer, but he has gone through a barren spell recently.

David Moyes do not have enough back-up options to cover him and has used the likes of Jarrod Bowen in his absence.

Brereton has been in scintillating form this season, and he would be a massive signing for the club.

West Ham have previously signed players from the Championship – Bowen and Said Benrahma – who have turned into key players for the club.

There’s no reason why Brereton can’t be a success at the London club.

However, it will take a big offer to tempt Rovers into selling Brereton this January. They might refuse it as well, keeping in mind their promotion hopes largely depends on him.
