West Ham joined by PSG in race to sign Reims striker Hugo Ekitike

Paris St. Germain have reportedly joined West Ham in the race to sign Reims striker Hugo Ekitike in the January transfer window.

According to 90Min, the super-rich Ligue 1 side now want to sign the 19-year-old French sensation.

Le 10 Sport claimed on January 10 that the Hammers had submitted a £13million bid to sign the forward, but are now joined by the league leaders in the hunt to secure his services.

It is also believed that Newcastle want to sign the teenager despite already bringing in Chris Wood from Burnley.

This makes things harder for West Ham to secure the player’s services as they cannot match the riches of Newcastle and PSG.

Both are clubs owned by countries in the Middle East whose owners are willing to spend top dollar to make their teams a global force.

The Hammers, on the other hand, operate under an extremely modest transfer budget.

It remains to be seen whether Reims are satisfied with the offer they made, but given the recent interest from these two clubs, we won’t be surprised if they hike up his price.

This is a perfect opportunity for them to spark a bidding war for Ekitike’s services as they know that they’ve got a real asset on their hands whose value is on the rise.
