West Ham fanbase to be entirely split after what’s just been said about Frank Lampard appointment
Frank Lampard could emerge as a managerial target for West Ham in the near future.
Graham Potter has come under pressure at the London Stadium after a largely difficult start to the new Premier League campaign.
That has eased somewhat after West Ham secured a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in their last outing away at the City Ground.
Regardless, there is still a chance that the Englishman risks the sack, with David Sullivan potentially hovering over the West Ham sack trigger.
If the ex-Brighton man were to lose his job in East London, the fan-splitting decision to hire Lampard could be taken up by the Irons’ hierarchy.

West Ham fans divided on potential Frank Lampard appointment
There is no getting away from the fact that Potter could soon be on the brink of the sack at West Ham after a difficult spell as head coach.
This will see other managers come into view as potential targets, something which could see a swoop for the Coventry City boss make sense.
Jeff Stelling backed Lampard to become West Ham boss as an alternative to Julen Lopetegui last November, but a move never went through in E20.
Now, a return to East London could be back on the cards for the ex-England international after a superb spell in charge of the Sky Blues.
With his Hammers links, the 47-year-old could prove to be a positive appointment, although Alan Brazil believes his hire could spark a divided claret and blue fan base.
Speaking via talkSPORT on 12 September, he said: “West Ham, Chelsea and Spurs hate each other.
“I can see Frank Lampard, if he does well with Coventry, and something goes wrong at West Ham, getting invited back [to West Ham] and some would love it while others would say ‘no way’.”
Frank Lampard could be what West Ham need
It has to be said that the appointment of the former midfielder at Coventry City was highly controversial after Mark Robbins was sacked.
With that being said, Lampard has proven exactly why this decision was made with a terrific record since taking over at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Record | Frank Lampard |
Matches | 39 |
Wins | 20 |
Draws | 7 |
Losses | 12 |
This could stand the ex-Chelsea man in good stead to take over and be successful at the London Stadium, especially after so many other managers have tried and failed.
With a more traditional approach to the game than most, his return to basics could be what the Irons need should the Potter experiment fail.
