West Ham have suffered a big blow as defender Vladimir Coufal could be out for up to six weeks, according to reports from Claret and Hugh.
The right-back has undergone successful surgery on a groin issue, and the clash at Brentford has been earmarked for a return in April.
The report claims that Ben Johnson will now be relied upon, and he is the most likely replacement this week against Wolves.
Chance for Johnson
The injury to the Czech Republic defender means that the Hammers will be relying heavily on Johnson.
Ryan Fredericks is another option for the Hammers, but he looked in terrible form against Newcastle in the last game.
This is a big chance for the 22-year-old versatile full-back to cement his position in the side.
In any case, the situation could be a blessing in disguise for the Hammers.
Johnson was playing superbly in the first half of the campaign before Coufal returned from injury. He kept him out with some stellar performances.
It was somewhat surprising that Moyes has ignored him in recent matches, as he persisted with Coufal who has been incredibly mediocre, if not poor.
Apart from one or two odd games, Johnson was nearly flawless, and he must be thinking about where he went wrong. He has shown great maturity playing both as a left-back and a right-back, and he has a chance again to prove his class to David Moyes.
