We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at West Ham...

West Ham summer signing Konstantinos Mavropanos is expected to miss the Manchester City game due to injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that his return will be eased back as he did not have a pre-season with the Hammers as well.

The London club shelled out £20million in order to secure the services of the Greece international this summer. [Evening Standard]

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said: “There hasn’t been much clarity on his injury at all but with lower back injuries, clubs are very likely going to be methodical and conservative especially early on in the season.

Further, he did go through a medical as well upon his transfer so West Ham must feel comfortable with how he’s progressing and his medium and long-term prospects as well so he’ll probably miss the game [v Manchester City] or be eased back.

In terms of return to game action, this will again be gradual loading and increased intensity, eventually reflecting on pitch movements and demands.

Mavropanos moved to the London Stadium this summer but was not the first choice for West Ham.

The club pursued Manchester United defender Harry Maguire and David Moyes even confirmed that a bid was in for the England international.

With Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd starting the season well, it remains to be seen if the system is changed to accommodate Mavropanos.

In other West Ham news, an ultimate transfer decision has been made by the Hammers on Jesse Lingard amid a recent development.
