Tim Steidten shares Niclas Fullkrug latest at West Ham after new messages

Niclas Fullkrug endured a difficult first season at West Ham and could be set for a move away this summer.

West Ham are yet to make any new senior additions to their squad, with supporters getting increasingly frustrated.

Graham Potter’s side has only brought in Jean-Clair Todibo so far, with the Hammers exercising their buy option, following his loan spell.

The Irons will want to avoid the mistakes of last year’s transfer window, though former technical director Tim Steidten doesn’t regret some of their business.

Streidten would sign Fullkrug again

After impressing in Germany, Fullkrug’s form fell off a cliff at the Hammers, with injuries and the striker’s lack of versatility holding him back.

The £27million signing hasn’t hit the heights expected of him at the London Stadium, and represents a host of mistakes made by Steidten.

However, the former Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen technical director still insists that signing Fullkrug wasn’t a mistake.

Speaking to Sky Sports Germany (8 July), Steidten said: “Niclas is fit. I messaged him a few days ago – physically, he is in top shape.

“I am certain that he will function one hundred per cent in the Premier League.”

It has previously been claimed that the Irons are ready to offload the striker this summer, having proved a disastrous signing.

The Hammers are unlikely to retrieve much of the £27m they paid for the striker, who is likely to leave alongside Mohammed Kudus this summer.

Steidten a major failure for West Ham

Fullkrug clearly doesn’t suit the modern possession-based style of football.

Therefore, the Hammers should accept their loss and focus on bringing in whatever fee they can for the 32-year-old.

He is joined by the likes of Luis Guilherme as someone whom Steidten should never have been trusted to sign.

West Ham don’t seem to be learning from their mistakes this summer, with the Hammers rarely even linked to new signings.

The Irons must now start focusing on signing players who suit Potter’s style of play, as they must back their manager next season or face the consequences.
