Super Computer shares chances of West Ham United winning Europa League

West Ham United qualified for the knockout phases of the Europa League last night despite drawing 2-2 against Genk.

A Super Computer has predicted that the Hammers are actually the second-favourites to lift the silverware this season.

FiveThirtyEight have shared that the Irons have a 9% chance of winning the competition, only better by Napoli, who have a 14% chance.

Sharing on their website this week, it was suggested that the Hammers have a real chance of going all the way.

David Moyes’ men will be thankful for the experience in Belgium last night.

For the first three matchdays in the competition, the Irons breezed past all of their group with ease in each third of the pitch.

Genk took the game to West Ham in front of their own home fans, and after a barrage of defensive work, they transformed the game.

Said Benrahma fired home both goals, with his second especially magical after his solo run of finish in the second half.

There were plenty more chances to seal the three points, but Tomas Soucek’s own-goal took that chance away.

Based on our form, no one would put it past the Irons to get their hands on the silverware and it would be everything we deserve.

Lessons will be have been learned last night, and Moyes will know that his side won’t be able to hand chances as they did to Genk in the knockout phases.
