Scott Minto comments on West Ham top-four chances

Scott Minto has suggested that West Ham have a good opportunity to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

The Hammers are currently fourth in the league, but they have failed to win in their last three Premier League games.

David Moyes’ side managed only a 1-1 draw against Brighton on Wednesday.

Ahead of West Ham’s London derby clash against Chelsea on Saturday, Minto has suggested that it’s an open race for the top-four spot.

“That fourth place is up for grabs. Anyone can argue that,” said Minto to BBC Football Daily podcast.

“What an opportunity for West Ham. They may look back at moment like this towards the end of the season, the loss against Wolves a couple of weeks ago as well, those were the type of games we needed to see out and get more points from.”

Tight race

Minto is absolutely spot on here.

While the title race is likely to be decided between Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, it’s the fourth spot that is up for grabs.

The likes of Arsenal and Tottenham are all eyeing a Champions League spot, while Manchester United are also in the mix.

The Hammers have improved in leaps and bounds under Moyes, and they need to be ruthless against mid-table oppositions.

Against Brighton, they conceded a late goal and dropped two points.

On Saturday, it will be another tough contest. Chelsea are simply terrific at the moment, and the West Ham players need to be on top of the game to get something out of the London derby.
