Report - West Ham rekindle interest in 26y/o PL hitman
West Ham could rekindle their interest in Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi this summer, according to Belgian outlet HLN.
The Hammers are named in a report alongside Crystal Palace as potential destinations for the 26-year-old forward should he leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
It is understood that the Blues could look to offload the hitman this summer before his contract expires next year.
The Belgian has already been sent out on loan three times during his spell in London, spending time with Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, and Crystal Palace.
It is understood that West Ham have been in the running to land him prior to each of those moves, but have missed out every time.
Would this be a good deal for West Ham?
Obviously, there would be a lot of varying factors involved, but it would certainly have the potential to be a great piece of business.
If the price was right, and if the player was willing to come, he could be a fantastic addition to David Moyes’ squad.
Batshuayi has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot during his time in England, and despite having made 77 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, has started just Premier League matches since joining the club.
But there’s a reason why John Hartson and Michael Owen have praised the striker for having “genuine quality”, and why Palace are keen to snap him up again after he bagged six in 13 matches for the Eagles this season.
Of course, there would be an element of risk involved with signing him, but it could be a gamble that pays off big time.
