Newcastle United set to explore chance to sign West Ham United target Armando Broja

Newcastle United have joined West Ham in the race to sign Armando Broja, as reported by The Mirror.

The newspaper reported on their printed edition (3 July, page 78) that the Magpies are exploring the “chances of a switch” for the 20-year-old Albania star.

Chelsea rate the player at around £58 million. The youngster could be given an opportunity at Stamford Bridge after Romelu Lukaku has returned to Inter Milan on loan this summer.

Loan competition

The youngster spent the last season on loan at Southampton where he made a big impression.

As it stands, neither Newcastle nor West Ham would be able to land him permanently, if Chelsea stay resolute on their price tag.

A loan move for him looks a safer bet, but the Blues may not be willing to accept such proposals.

Jacob Steinberg wrote for The Guardian on 30 June that the Hammers have not made a bid for the youngster, but as per Sky Sports, the Hammers were ready to make a £30million bid for him.

It seems the Magpies are now preparing to make a formal move to land the striker, and they do have the financial power to pull off the deal.

The Hammers desperately need a striker this summer, as they simply cannot rely on Michail Antonio alone to deliver.

The London outfit have shown ambition in the market so far. They have spent big money to secure a deal for Nayef Aguerd, while have signed Alphonso Areola on loan as well.

They are also looking to secure a deal for Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma (The Mirror), but adding a striker should be a priority for David Moyes.
