Michail Antonio shares Arsenal Premier League title verdict before West Ham v Manchester City
West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League and suggested his side could play a big part in handing them the title on the final day.
Speaking on the Footballers’ Football Podcast (released on 16 May), Antonio said that West Ham will go to Manchester City on Sunday (19 May) with victory on their minds.
The Hammers striker believes Arsenal, who trail City by two points and face Everton at the Emirates Stadium, will therefore win the title if David Moyes’ side can cause an upset.
Antonio was speaking before it became mathematically impossible for West Ham to get into Europe, but said: “Last game of the season, we have something to play for as well, we’re trying to get into Europe, Man City away.
“I wouldn’t call (Arsenal) bottle jobs if they lose the title. If it goes down to the last day, I reckon Arsenal win it.”
West Ham want to finish season with a flourish
West Ham may have already farewelled David Moyes with a 3-1 victory over Luton in the Scot’s final home game in charge, but he will officially depart following the Irons’ final game of the season.
Heading north to three-time defending champions Manchester City, who sit two points above Arsenal at the top of the table, is far from the easiest of tasks for Moyes and his side to face before a summer of change begins at the London Stadium.

However, Moyes will be confident that the Hammers can cause an upset on the final day, after recording a comeback victory over Luton Town last time out.
James Ward-Prowse, Tomas Soucek and George Earthy’s second-half goals proved decisive, and the Scotsman will need more impressive performances from midfield if they’re to have any chance of toppling the Citizens.
Many Hammers supporters may be in two minds given the animosity with London rivals Arsenal, but Antonio thinks the Irons can have a big say on the title picture, but to do so the striker and his team-mates must be on top form to give Moyes the perfect goodbye.
