West Ham United ready to make six new transfers under Julen Lopetegui

West Ham will provide Julen Lopetegui with funds to bring at least six new players to the London Stadium, according to the Evening Standard.

The Irons are set to undergo a major overhaul this summer, and it is reported that the priority is transitioning away from an ageing defence, as well as a new centre-forward.

Lopetegui has agreed to a deal to become the Hammers' new boss ahead of the departure of David Moyes, who was confirmed to be leaving the club on 6 May, and plans for the transfer window have already begun.

Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo and Wolves captain Max Kilman, who worked under Lopetegui at Molineux, are both high on the list of defensive targets.

West Ham will line up on the first day of the 2024-25 season with a team that could look alien compared to their current starting XI.

If Lopetegui does manage to sign six new players, several players who regularly feature at the moment will likely need to make way.

A host of those players appear to be on their way out of the London Stadium door regardless, with defenders Angelo Ogbonna, Ben Johnson and Aaron Cresswell all out of contract at the end of the season.

Kalvin Phillips' forgettable loan spell has next to no chance of becoming a permanent deal, while it is also implied that Danny Ings, Nayef Aguerd, Thilo Kehrer and Said Benrahma will be sold in the summer window.

Moyes' time in charge is coming to an end, and as Lopetegui's own era begins, it's all change at the London Stadium.

The current Irons squad have achieved plenty of career heights together, but from next season onwards, there's going to be a whole host of new faces in the claret and blue of West Ham.
