Maxwel Cornet suffers injury nightmare away from West Ham – ‘Not Good’
Maxwel Cornet has endured a miserable season away from West Ham.
The Ivory Coast international featured in just two Premier League matches for Southampton for a total of just 71 minutes before his loan was terminated in January.
He then joined Italian outfit Genoa on another loan deal until the end of the campaign, but his luck does not appear to have changed since making the switch.

West Ham loanee Cornet injured in new blow
The Hammers star had started to enjoy life in Italy following his loan move in the winter transfer window.
The 28-year-old had scored twice and notched one assist in six Serie A appearances but is now set for time on the sidelines, according to PrimoCanale.
The report (11 March) claims that the Irons loanee has suffered a thigh flexor injury and will be re-assessed in the coming weeks with no timeframe set for his return but the “sensations were not good.”

Cornet needs game time to salvage West Ham future
Time is running out for the former Burnley ace to salvage his career at the London Stadium, West Ham parted with £17.5million to secure his services but the move has not paid off for either party.
The Hammers were short on attacking reinforcements with the likes of Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio, and Jarrod Bowen out and still allowed the Ivorian to depart for Genoa, which probably means that he faces a very long road to work his way back into contention under Graham Potter.
Stats | Goals | Assists |
Southampton | 0 | 0 |
Genoa | 2 | 1 |
That would start with an impressive loan spell, proving that he can score and assist regularly in one of Europe’s top leagues, but a spell on the sidelines is a disaster for Cornet.
Just when things seemed to be going his way and he had finally rediscovered his form after being frozen out with the Saints, he picks up an injury and is out for an unknown period.
It is a devastating blow for the player but also for the club who will have been keeping a keen eye on his progress in Italy, with the idea of potentially reintegrating him into the fold next season.
