West Ham beat Tottenham 2-1 on Sunday and Sky Sports pundits Jamie Redknapp and Micah Richards were impressed with the bravery of Thomas Soucek.
The Irons defended brilliantly throughout, particularly late on when Spurs’ pressure looked like it would produce an equaliser.
Several players threw their bodies on the line and Soucek showed amazing determination following a clash of heads with Davison Sanchez.
Remarking on the incident, Richards said on Sky Sports Super Sunday: “Soucek he’s like a man mountain in there.”
Redknapp added: “He is like the Terminator when he gets knocked down and bounces back up to try and make another block.
“That is what you want in your team.”
The midfielder was cut quite badly yet he got back on his feet to block a potential shot, and we are impressed with the desire he showed.
It is clear that David Moyes has had a huge impact on this squad.
We are totally transformed from last season, with the players now giving absolutely everything to win points.
That, combined with an improvement in quality, has led us to fight for European qualification.
Vladimir Coufal also received a knock in the second half but continued like his compatriot.
The two Czech Republic internationals have led by example at times this season, and it is brilliant to see a West Ham squad all pulling in the same direction for once.
They knew how much a win against Spurs would mean for the fans, and entering the top four with the win is an added bonus.
We should take confidence from this victory ahead of our trip to Manchester City next week.
That match will really test our resolve, but if we display the same defensive organisation there is a chance we can nick a result.
