Libor Secka: Daniel Kretinsky beneficial for West Ham
Czech Republic ambassador Libor Secka believes that Daniel Kretinsky’s investment could prove to be beneficial for West Ham.
Kretinsky, a Czech billionaire, is currently negotiating the purchase of a 27 per cent stake with the current Hammers owners.
According to The Telegraph, he is planning to propose a partnership that will see Sparta Prague become a feeder/developmental club for West Ham.

He also has plans to one day complete a full takeover of the club by taking full ownership.
Discussing this development and the perception of the Irons in the Czech Republic, Secka said, on ExWHUemployee’s West Ham Way podcast, “I think at this moment, West Ham is the most popular club, given all the Czech players there. Their prestige and reputation in the Czech Republic are very high.
“He [Kretinsky] started from zero. He started as the man who analyses the financial markets, but he is smart and very hard working so step by step he created himself. The money he’s got is down his efforts and smart approach
“If the agreement could be done, it could be beneficial for West Ham because Daniel is a fan of football. Apart from being a good businessman, he’s a supporter of the game.”
Let’s get it done
It’s nice to see that Kretinsky has opted to stay away from the media and give interviews without any substance.

That’s precisely what PAI Capital did, and by the end, it did not seem like they genuinely wanted to buy the club.
They made ridiculous promises of taking ownership of the stadium and getting the club to the next level.
However, in hindsight, that was a poor marketing gimmick that quickly fell flat given the constant contrary stories that kept coming out at the time.
In our view, Kretinsky is doing the smart thing by buying a minority stake in the club.
It will give time to GSB to do whatever they have to before selling the club outright.
The Hammers fans deserve new owners and hopefully, the Czech billionaire will not let them down.
