Juventus ready to rival AC Milan for Gianluca Scamacca as West Ham update emerges

Juventus are ready to join Serie A rivals AC Milan in the race to sign West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported on 24 May (page 17) say that Juve are ready to sell Dusan Vlahovic this summer.

Arkadiusz Milik has been on loan at Juve from Marseille this term and remains an option, but Scamacca is also thought to be on the Bianconeri’s radar.

That could lead to an intriguing battle with fellow Serie A heavyweights Milan, who it was this week reported want to bring Scamacca to San Siro next season.

Scamacca moved to the London Stadium on a five-year deal in July 2022 but has managed just three goals in 16 Premier League appearances this term.

West Ham need to solve their striker problem

The Hammers thought they had finally found a long-term solution to add more firepower when Scamacca arrived from Sassuolo in a deal reportedly worth upwards of £35million.

But, frankly, Scamacca has yet to prove he can adapt to life in the Premier League and a knee injury sustained at the start of April means he has missed West Ham’s run-in.

It means a move back home to Italy is likely on the cards, at least on a temporary basis, and it speaks to the potential he has that the likes of Juve and Milan are weighing up the possibility of a loan solution.

However, once again it would leave West Ham trying to fill a troublesome void. Danny Ings was brought in from Aston Villa but has scored only twice in the Premier League and Michail Antonio could be on the way out this summer.

Alassane Plea has been touted as one potential option with the Frenchman reportedly unhappy at Borussia Monchengladbach but, what is for sure, West Ham need to make a forward a priority in the upcoming transfer window.
