Jim White reacts to 'Insane' footage after West Ham United win v AZ Alkmaar
Jim White has reacted to the “insane” footage of West Ham fans protecting other supporters after the clash against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday (18 May).
New footage has emerged on Twitter of Hammers supporters being attacked by a group of AZ Alkmaar fans following the Europa Conference League match.
West Ham won the semi-final second leg in the Netherlands 1-0, securing a 3-1 victory on aggregate.
But the superb victory was overshadowed by clashes in the stands at the full-time whistle.
“Insane scenes at the end of the West Ham game in the Netherlands last night,” White wrote on Twitter.
Really disappointing to see

Sadly some football supporters remain in the dark ages, with this group of AZ fans really letting themselves and their club down by attacking what was reportedly the West Ham family stand.
It really is disturbing to see such ugly scenes in this day and age, with the supporters deserving of lifelong bans. They clearly had very bad intentions from the start, with their pathetic actions bringing the night to a sour end.
There is absolutely no room for such hooliganism in football, and the authorities need to clamp down on their behaviour as soon as possible in order to avoid any repeats.
The question must also be asked as to how this was allowed to happen in the first place, with clearly not enough security in place in and around the stadium.
Those Hammers fans who did their all to protect the family stand should definitely be praised and rewarded for their heroic actions.
