Gabby Agbonlahor left ‘fuming’ live on talkSPORT at what happened in West Ham United win v AZ Alkmaar

Gabby Agbonlahor was left “fuming” after a section of AZ Alkmaar fans tried to attack a section of West Ham fans following their match on Thursday (18 May).

Footage has emerged of several home supporters clashing with away supporters at the AFAS Stadion.

The Hammers won the Europa Conference League semi-final second leg 1-0, securing a 3-1 aggregate victory, setting up the final in Prague next month.

“I was fuming watching it,” Agbonlahor said live on talkSPORT. “There were West Ham family and friends and the AZ Alkmaar hooligans… How can they get to the West Ham fans without zero police?

“I’ve seen the clips, there were about 15 or 20 stewards, who aren’t going to be as physical as police would be, how can that happen?”

It really was a very disappointing end to a phenomenal night for West Ham, who are now heading for an unforgettable night in Prague next month.

They will meet Fiorentina in the final on 7 June, with the Serie A side having defeated Basel 4-3 on aggregate.

It will definitely take time for this Hammers achievement to sink in, even when the most difficult part hasn’t been done yet.

The superb moment was, however, overshadowed by the section of supporters who turned violent at the full-time whistle.

Obviously, it should never have been allowed to happen, with a full inquest needed into how this took place, but also into what needs to be done in terms of punishment for the guilty parties.

Nobody should be put through such fear over a game of football, with authorities needing to hand lifelong bans for those who went to the stadium with the sole aim of causing trouble.
