Jeff Stelling reacts as Mohamed Salah to West Ham claim made live on talkSPORT

Jeff Stelling has laughed at the thought of Mohamed Salah signing for West Ham amid the winger’s contract situation at Liverpool.

The 32-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield and has recently called out the club for not hearing anything about a renewal, with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold in the same situation.

With Hammers fans clearly flying high after their 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Monday 25 November, one cheeky fan phoned in to suggest that Salah should make a switch to the London Stadium.

Speaking live via talkSPORT [26 November, 9:50am], Stelling said: “You’ve got to love West Ham fans and their humour. An anonymous text this morning, ‘Good morning, chaps. I think Salah is too good for Liverpool. He should come to West Ham.’

“Brilliant. Absolutely love it.”

West Ham United to sign Mohamed Salah amid new Liverpool contract outburst?

Obviously, no football fans actually believe that Salah would switch Anfield for East London next summer, even if his contract were to expire with the Reds.

Many fans would likely stay loyal to Jarrod Bowen either way, with the winger playing a starring role in the 2-0 win at St James’ Park, and it is easy to see why the supporters love him so much.

With 12 goals and three assists in 16 meetings with the Hammers, fans at the London Stadium would love to see the back of the Egyptian after many years of torment.

Julen Lopetegui has already faced the Reds once this season, losing 5-1 in the EFL Cup in September and still need to face them twice more in the Premier League this term.

With one goal against the Hammers back in September, they will need to find a way to keep the winger as quiet as possible, with the two sides next meeting on 29 December.
