Emerson Palmieri makes admission on West Ham teammate Jarrod Bowen - 'Oh my...'
Emerson Palmieri admits that West Ham teammate Jarrod Bowen is difficult to play against as a result of his relentless workrate.
The former Hull City winger has been the Hammers' talisman this season with other attackers failing to deliver.
The 27-year-old scored his first goal for England against the Republic of Ireland on 17 November and Palmieri told the Iron Cast Podcast (18 November) what makes the winger so hard to play against.
"I played against Jarrod, I think, was the first time, I think. Oh my God. I say, Oh my God, this guy doesn’t stop, he doesn’t stop,” he said.
"He doesn’t stop running, he will not stop running. I go forward, he is always with me and they always win West Ham, he covers the ball, he goes the other way. It’s not easy to try to find the space."
Jarrod Bowen a shining light in poor West Ham team
West Ham sit 14th in the Premier League standings, five points above the relegation zone with two wins in their last six matches in the competition.
The England sensation has been the Hammers' star man so far this season with three goals and two assists in 11 matches in the league.
The next closest in the standings is Mohammed Kudus, who has notched two goals in eight league games.
There is speculation over Julen Lopetegui's future at the club already after a poor start to the season but club sources insist that the club are committed to the Spaniard although results must improve. [Simon Stone].
Lopetegui will have enjoyed Bowen's exploits on the international stage and will hope that can maintain that impact when he returns to the London Stadium.
Right now, Bowen is the shining light in a stagnant West Ham team and he is the key to any possibility of the club climbing up the table, a task which starts with a trip to Newcastle United on Monday (25 November).
