Gianluca Scamacca will take ‘four or five months’ to settle at West Ham - Roberto Mancini
Roberto Mancini believes Gianluca Scamacca will take “four or five months” to settle at West Ham.
The 23-year-old joined the Hammers in a deal worth £35.5 million from the Serie A side Sassuolo in the recently concluded summer transfer window [Sky Sports].
Talking with the media ahead of Italy’s Nations League fixture against England on Friday as quoted by Football Italia, Italy manager Mancini believes that Scamacca has time “by his side” to deliver the goods at his new club.
“Scamacca joined a difficult league,” he said. “It will take some time to understand English football. He will take four or five months to settle in, but time is by his side.”
Crucial
West Ham entered the transfer window hoping to sign a lot of players to bolster the squad ahead of the 2022-23 campaign and they managed to bring eight first-team players.
One of the most high-profile signings by the Hammers was Scamacca as he was linked with a number of clubs before eventually arriving at the London Stadium.
Ever since arriving at his new club, the 23-year-old has shown glimpses of his talent but has seen himself sitting on the bench most of the time.
Looking at his past record, there is no reason to suggest that the player will not come good for the side.
What’s most important for the Irons has been the fact that ever since he arrived, the performance of Michail Antonio has been pretty impressive as well as he is now getting some much-needed rest in the European games whereas he also knows that there is someone who is waiting in the wings to take his place.
Therefore, there is no reason for West Ham fans to panic yet and keep supporting the player who just arrived at the club.
