Fabrizio Romano: Gianluca Scamacca lands in London to complete West Ham United move
Gianluca Scamacca has reportedly landed in London to finalise his big-money move to West Ham this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italy international had a conversation with David Moyes on July 25 ahead of boarding his flight.
The paperwork has been signed between Sassuolo and the Hammers and the 23-year-old is all set to become the first senior striker to arrive at London Stadium since Sebastien Haller’s sale.
Via Twitter, the Sky Sports journalist wrote, “Medical tests and contract signing on Tuesday morning for new West Ham forward Gianluca Scamacca – just landed in London. Paperwork already signed between clubs with Sassuolo. David Moyes had conversation with Scamacca today morning too.”
Wheels in motion
The Hammers have acted like a top club this summer and have finally got the transfer target they desired the most.
It was always going to be a toss up between Armando Broja and the Italian and after talks with both players and representatives, it seems like the latter emerged the favourite.
We cannot wait to see how Scamacca fits into this West Ham team as he’s just what Moyes would’ve wanted from his striker.
The Scotsman likes tall and muscular strikers that are not only good at winning the ball in the air but also adept at holding up the ball and bringing others into the game.
In the 23-year-old, the Irons finally have a striker that can push for 15-20 Premier League goals per season and that’s massive given the fact that they want to become realistic top-four contenders in the coming years.
They’ve signed a defender and now have signed a striker and it seems like they’re going to rope in another midfielder while also retaining the services of Declan Rice.
It’s got to be viewed as a solid window so far.
