ExWHUemployee: Maxwel Cornet our of West Ham United action for two weeks
Maxwel Cornet will be out of West Ham United action for two weeks with a calf strain according to ExWHUemployee.
It was reported by Football London’s Jonty Colman (via Twitter, 5 October) that Cornet was not in training ahead of West Ham’s Europa Conference League match against R.S.C. Anderlecht.
Ex revealed (via his Patreon, 5 October) that he will miss the Fulham game and is also likely to miss the Hammers’ following fixture against Southampton.

Blow
This is a blow for the Hammers, particular after Cornet’s good start to life at the London Stadium. The fixtures against Southampton and Fulham are both favourable and will certainly be targetted by David Moyes.
Hammers’ fans will be hoping their victory over Wolves really kickstarts their 2022/23 season into life after a far from convincing opening to the season. Luckily for Moyes, he certainly has more squad depth than in previous seasons, so the loss of Cornet should not be too costly.

Muscle injuries can sometimes be deceptively hard to recover from, so a two-week break for Cornet is good news. West Ham know that a victory in Belgium will all but secure their passage into the knockout stages of the competition.
Once West Ham’s fate is tied up it would be refreshing for Moyes to give some of his younger players the opportunity to play in the remaining group games and give some of his senior stars a rest.
Moyes has included 16-year-old academy product Oliver Scarles in the group that has travelled to Belgium. Fans should certainly take not if he is given the chance to feature.
