Don Hutchison: Everton defender Lucas Digne would have been good for West Ham
Don Hutchison claims that West Ham wanted to sign Everton defender Lucas Digne and that he would have been a good signing for them.
On Monday (January 10), talkSPORT reported that the 28-year-old was closing in on a £25million switch to Aston Villa.
The Hammers were also keen on securing his services, but their interest was not as advanced and they did not table any offer for the France international.

Speaking on Premier League Fanzone, Hutchison, a BT Sport pundit, said, “Digne would have been a good signing for West Ham and they wanted him too but I guess he’s got to pick Aston Villa given the project there.”
Alas
Digne checks all boxes for the Hammers and would’ve been a perfect fit for David Moyes’ system.
He’s a few years younger than Aaron Cresswell and is also better defensively as well as going forward.
He would’ve walked into the West Ham playing eleven and made the players around him better and more forward thinking.

However, his valuation was always going to prove to be a massive barrier and that’s precisely what happened.
Villa have signed a solid attacking full-back who seldom appears to get injured.
Bar his scrap behind the scenes with Rafa Benitez, he’s also an extremely professional player and would’ve been a quality acquisition.
In other West Ham news, the club want to sign a ‘World class’ central midfielder in January and the player is set to leave on one condition
