Dharmesh Sheth: Kurt Zouma injury ‘not serious’ but will miss a few West Ham United games

Dharmesh Sheth believes West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma’s recent injury worry is “not serious” and will only sideline him for a few games.

The Hammers defender suffered a thigh injury in the 2-0 win over Everton, and although unconcerned at first, a later scan revealed it was confirmed he had sustained a more serious issue.

ExWHUemployee revealed via his Patreon update (24 January) that the Frenchman has reported bruising in his thigh after the win at the London Stadium.

However, according to Sky Sports reporter Sheth, the injury to West ham’s centre-back isn’t a major one, but he still questioned whether Moyes might need to find an appropriate replacement in the dying stages of the January transfer window.

He told GiveMeSport: “We’re told that Kurt Zouma has got an injury, but it’s not serious.

“He will miss a few games, I’m not sure whether that length of time would be enough to force West Ham to go into the market for a central defender.”

Crucial player

The injury to Zouma couldn’t have come at a worse time for Moyes, who has also had to deal with injury layoffs to attacking duo Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings.

With the Hammers also sanctioning Craig Dawson’s permanent exit from the club to Wolves earlier this window, Moyes is a little short-staffed at the back.

And considering West Ham are fighting on three fronts – Premier League, FA Cup and the Europa Conference League – this is a serious worry.

Moyes will have a return date in mind for the Frenchman, and if it is beyond a month on the sidelines, he might be forced to dip into the transfer market to find a suitable replacement.

After signing Thilo Kehrer and Nayef Aguerd in the summer, a permanent move would most likely be out of the window, but a short-term loan deal could be the perfect way to deal with Zouma’s absence.
