Declan Rice to Manchester United transfer twist as West Ham prediction made

Tim Sherwood has tipped West Ham midfielder Declan Rice to join Manchester United over Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the in-demand England midfielder, who is also receiving interest from Bayern Munich.

However, Sky Sports pundit Sherwood thinks Arsenal will instead sign Brighton star Moises Caicedo, opening the door for the Red Devils to swoop for Rice.

“I think Caicedo might go there (to Arsenal), that’s why I’m saying that,” Sherwood said on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, in quotes reported by The Boot Room.

“I think Caicedo goes to Arsenal instead of Declan and they don’t need them both, so that’s why I think Declan will go to United.”

Rice is the master of his own destiny

West Ham fans have been resigned to losing Rice for some time but what remains unclear is just where the star midfielder will be plying his trade next season.

Arsenal did initially emerge as front runners, but then Bayern Munich surprisingly entered the race with Thomas Tuchel a big fan from his time in charge of Chelsea.

At this stage, it would seem fanciful that Bayern have the financial muscle to compete with the Premier League’s big hitters and Rice may not yet fancy a move abroad.

With Chelsea seemingly setting their sights on Manuel Ugarte, that does logically suggest Arsenal and United are leading the race.

The beauty for Rice is there is no need to rush into a decision. He can weigh up the best option for him, he is undoubtedly the master of his own destiny.

Whether Sherwood’s prediction comes to fruition remains to be seen but Rice’s next destination remains uncertain.
