Dawson outstanding, Coufal poor – West Ham player ratings v Arsenal
West Ham have suffered a 2-0 defeat against Arsenal in the London derby Premier League clash on Wednesday night at the Emirates.
After a cagey first half, the Gunners took the lead through Gabriel Martinelli who scored with a low shot into the bottom corner of the West Ham net.
Lukasz Fabianski saved a penalty in the second half. Emile Smith-Rowe scored late to seal all three points for the home side.

Here, West Ham Zone rates the players out of 10 for their performances:
Lukasz Fabianski – 8
Made some good saves in the first half. Saved a penalty to deny Lacazette.
Vladimir Coufal – 2
Picked up a red card in the second half, although it was very harsh. Lost the ball in very good positions a few times. Martinelli ran past him easily for the first goal.
Craig Dawson – 9
Outstanding. He was superb throughout the game, putting his body on the line on many occasions.
Issa Diop – 5
Apparently steady but Dawson’s overwhelming presence overshadowed his limited contribution.
Arthur Masuaku – 3
Struggled throughout against Bukayo Saka, and kept the gap open on the left-hand side.

Declan Rice – 6
Tried to influence the team after the first goal. His surging runs into the box was absent.
Tomas Soucek – 6
Once again, kept things tight and simple but that familiar drive from him was missing.
Pablo Fornals – 6
Steady in midfield and more involved in defensive shifts than usual.
Manuel Lazini – 6
No shortage of energy from the Argentine, just that cohesion with other forwards was not there.
Jarrod Bowen – 7
Produced a delightful curling effort in the second half. He was lively throughout.
Michail Antonio – 3
He was poor at everything in the first half. Failed to make simple passes, lost possessions and was equally bad with his hold up play.
Substitutes:
Said Benrahma – NA
Harrison Ashby – NA
