David Sullivan behind-the-scenes confession about West Ham star Bowen emerges

West Ham part-owner David Sullivan would admit that new England star Jarrod Bowen is better than Dmitri Payet, according to The Sun journalist Andrew Dillon.

The 27-year-old scored his first Three Lions goal against the Republic of Ireland on 17 November in the 5-0 victory at Wembley.

With over 100 goal contributions in 215 appearances for the Irons, Bowen has impressed since his £22 million move from Hull City and Dillon [The Sun, page 50, 22 November] claims that the former Birmingham City owner would make the stunning admission.

“Sullivan oversaw the deal himself and will happily tell you even though Bowen to the Prem, he was no risk because of his rock-solid character.

“If you ask, he will also confess that while Payet was a truly great footballer, Bowen is a better asset for his club.”

Jarrod Bowen should stay at West Ham

The Englishman has been constantly linked with a move away from the London Stadium, and his performances have made him stand out in a poor Hammers team.

That is no different this season, with the club languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone with two wins in their last six matches.

The former Hereford man has notched three goals and two assists so far in this campaign, the most contributions in the squad, with Mohammed Kudus the best of the rest on two.

The speculation about his future will only likely increase due to his performances on the biggest stage with his national team.

However, Bowen should ignore the interest from other teams and stay with the Irons to consolidate his legacy as a club legend.

If he does, he could well prove Sullivan right that he is a better asset than Payet, who is regarded as one of the best to ever play for the Hammers.
