Lukasz Fabianski and James Ward-Prowse axed – Confirmed West Ham United XI v Liverpool

David Moyes has made two changes to his West Ham United starting lineup for the Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Alphonse Areola returns in goal to replace Lukasz Fabianski after recovering from his groin injury, while Jarrod Bowen is back in the side following his injury issues and replaces James Ward-Prowse.

Lucas Paqueta moves into the number ten role, while young centre-back Kaelan Casey is named on the substitutes bench alongside striker Divin Mubma.

Dinos Mavropanos is also not involved, with Angelo Ogbonna starting in central defence alongside Kurt Zouma.

West Ham United still have their season in their hands

As much as the season seems like it is over for West Ham after defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League quarter-finals and then a 5-2 thrashing at the hand of Crystal Palace, that isn’t the case.

As it stands seventh place will secure Europa Conference League football for next season and West Ham are only two points behind Newcastle in the table, who currently occupy that spot.

Obviously when looking at the upcoming fixtures for the remainder of the season the Hammers have a tough run, but nothing is impossible and fans should stay positive until it’s mathematically impossible.

With a win over Liverpool, who are also licking their wounds after their title charge was abruptly halted by local rivals Everton, it could spark belief in the team to go on a run in the final weeks of the season.

With David Moyes expected to leave the club too it would be a fine way for him to sign off as manager, and for the players to say goodbye too.

In other West Ham news, one out-of-work boss has held talks with both the Hammers and a European giant about the manager’s job.
