Chris Sutton drools over Tomas Soucek in West Ham v Brighton

Chris Sutton has praised Tomas Soucek after he gave West Ham the lead against Brighton in the first half.

The Hammers midfielder scored inside five minutes with a fantastic header to score his second goal of the season.

The 26-year-old made a clever movement to meet the ball off a super delivery from Pablo Fornals.

Sutton while commentating on the game for the Premier League TV Production said live on air: “What a ball this is from Fornals!”

“Soucek is so dangerous in the air. He is standing on the line, but the goalkeeper trips off him. Such a clever, deft header from Soucek. Into the goal, no chance for Sanchez.”

Dominant first-half display

After back to back defeats in the Premier League, the Hammers have produced a dominant display in the first 45 minutes.

Declan Rice was superb as usual, while Fornals was very unlucky after he hit the crossbar.

However, David Moyes will be pleased that Soucek has finally ended his goal drought after 18 games.

It was a scintillating cross from Fornals who whipped in from the corner with pace and swing in the delivery.

The Hammers have been brilliant this season with their set-pieces, and they have demonstrated another example on Wednesday night.

It seemed like the ball would go in without the touch, all it needed was a deft header that Soucek provided.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are one of a number of teams chasing this £30m-rated striker.
